This model is sometimes necessary, but not a sufficient
instructional tool on its own. It is more teacher-led, than
student-directed.
-
Review previously learned material.
Make certain that students have mastered the material taught
previously and that they understand the connections to the new
learning.
-
State Objectives for the lesson.
Objectives should be presented at the beginning of the lesson
in a manner students can understand.
-
Present new material. New material should be well organized and
presented in an interesting manner.
-
Guide practice, assess performance, and provide
corrective feedback.
-
Assess independent practice, assess performance, and
provide corrective feedback. Independent practice (i.e., homework) should be
assigned only when the teacher feels the students can perform
the work correctly.
-
Review periodically with corrective feedback if
necessary.
Reteaching should be conducted if necessary.
